Hydractive III+ Suspension

Hydractive III+ suspension is a major feature of the New Citroën C5. Citroën's most advanced suspension system to date, with its evolutionary technology, offers a whole new standard in luxurious, comfortable driving. Based on the world famous Citroën invention of hydropneumatic suspension, Hydractive III+ also features Citroën's trademark self-levelling feature that guarantees a constant ride height regardless of the load or number of passengers, overcoming the usual compromise between ride-comfort and handling.

The suspension constantly monitors speed and road conditions, lowering the car at speeds above 110kmh to optimise stability and fuel economy. On rough roads, it automatically raises for increased clearance and comfort.

At the touch of a button you can also spice things up with the 'sport mode'. The system ensures optimised driving pleasure and truly exceptional comfort.

Six-Speed EGS Gearbox System

The Citroën C4 HDi 110 DFPS and Citroën C4 Picasso 1.6i 16V THP 150hp & 1.6HDi 110hp engines now come with a new cutting edge six-speed electronic gearbox system that delivers high levels of driving comfort and pleasure as well as enhancing fuel economy, with a range of innovative options. It’s a revolutionary alternative to normal manual and automatic gearboxes.

Choose between modes: in “manual”, you can change gear using either paddles by the steering wheel, or the sequential lever. In “automatic” mode the gearbox will control gear change for you, maximising your drive comfort and optimising fuel consumption – to the order of 3 to 5% lower than a conventional manual gearbox, also helped by a sixth gear.

If you are up for a nippier drive you can also use the additional “sport” mode for responsiveness, and a “hill-start” mode will make up-hill starts more convenient.

With no need for a clutch pedal, and the chosen gear always displayed on the instrument panel, we have kept everything simple, giving you a high tech gearbox for a superb drive.

Sensodrive gearbox

Citroën has introduced a manual gearbox with “Formula 1 style” paddle change gearshift, with its advanced ‘SensoDrive’® gearbox, which is now available as part of the Citroën C3 Pluriel range.

The new ‘SensoDrive’® gearbox will make driving even easier thanks to its clutchless gearchange that can be conveniently operated via steering wheel-mounted paddles, allowing drivers to keep their hands on the wheel at all times for improved safety and comfort. Additionally, drivers can still change gear via a gear lever or select a completely automated operation.

To change gear manually, the driver simply flicks the paddles to change up or down, or taps the gearlever forward or backwards. Neutral and reverse can also be selected using the gearlever. To let the car do all the gear changing automatically, a button at the base of the gearlever can be pressed, allowing the driver to benefit from an even more relaxed and undemanding drive.
